We have become a civilization plagued with chronic diseases. Healthcare in the United States is generally good but for what the average person spends, most people agree that patient outcomes should be much better. Part of the issue is staffing. According to the National Institutes of Health, there will be a significant shortage of medical professionals by 2030: approximately 18 million operational staff and 5 million doctors worldwide. With the promise of new technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and Quantum Computing, will the US Healthcare system be able to deliver truly personalized services in support of better care, faster, and at lower cost than present or will the current predicament accelerate by adding complexity to an already difficult situation for patients and doctors alike.
